As California continues to build infrastructure around electric vehicles, Cal eVIP is rolling out a new incentive program. Businesses installing DC Fast Chargers (DCFC) will be eligible for up to $80,000 in rebates. If you’re located in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside or San Bernardino county, you may be eligible.
Here’s an overview:
- Apply for the program before installing the charging station.
- Rebates apply to DC Fast Charging station equipment and installation.
- Once CSE reviews and approves your application you have one year to complete the project.
- The equipment must have data collection and payment capabilities and be available 24/7.
Is your business eligible to participate?
To begin the application process, go to the SCIP website. To be eligible, you must be the site owner or have authorization from the owner. SCIP has indicated that they are interested in working with the businesses where customers are parked for 30 minutes or less. This includes the following types of businesses:
- Retail and shopping centersv
- Grocery stores
- Restaurants
- Gas stations
- Hospitals
- Airports
- Police stations
The secondary list includes county- or city-owned properties, hotels and parking garages.
How much are the rebates?
Rebates up to $40,000 are available for installation at replacement and make ready sites. For new sites and sites with stub outs, up to $70,000 is available per DCFC installation. And in disadvantaged communities where air quality is an issue, up to $80,000 per DCFC installation is available.
Funds are available on a first come, first served basis with a specific allocation for each county.
Will the rebate offset of the installation and equipment costs?
Based on our projections and the work we’ve done for customers alongside Chargepoint, we estimate the rebates could save as much as 75-80% of costs. For stores installing more than one charging station, the savings grow.
We’ve partnered with Chargepoint to give our customers a great product along with the high quality service expected from Solis technicians.
