COVID-19 Cleaning and Disinfecting Program

By May 11, 2020News

The pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus has made public health and safety a number one concern for businesses the world over. At Solis, we’ve always worked to be responsive to the immediate and long-term needs of our clients. We’re here to do our part in fighting the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

COVID Transmission

While the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) are still learning about how COVID-19 is transmitted, here’s what we do know. [Courtesy of the CDC]

  • You can become infected by coming into close contact (about 6 feet or two arm lengths) with a person who has COVID-19. COVID-19 is primarily spread from person to person.
  • You can become infected from respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks.
  • You may also be able to get it by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it, and then by touching your mouth, nose, or eyes.

With this in mind, we’re introducing our Cleaning and Disinfecting Program.

The process known as Germicidal Ultra Violet (GUV) uses UV-C light to disinfect both air and surfaces when applied appropriately and potentially reducing transmission of the COVID-19 virus. GUV was recently highlighted by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) in a comprehensive report detailing its efficacy in the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

COVID-19, SARS and MERS are all coronaviruses. Scientists have had more time to study and understand SARS and MERS and research demonstrates that GUV can efficiently eliminate the viral infectivity of coronaviruses. The CDC has validated the efficacy of the GVU process to inactivate COVID-19 and aid in the fight to stop the transmission of the disease.

To put it simply:

  1. GUV has been shown to kill bacteria and inactivate viruses, including COVID-19.
  2. GUV is effective in disinfecting air and surfaces, but is not for use on skin.
  3. Disinfection must be conducted properly by those trained in the process in order to avoid harmful UV-C contact with skin and eyes.
Products and Services

Solis is offering both GUV products and services. We’ve got trained technicians who can come in on a regular basis to disinfect your retail or office space according to calibration standards identified by organizations such as IES and studies out of the Harvard School of Public Health.

UV-C systems can be used safely, but the risks to skin and eyes have to be understood and accounted for during the GUV process. Direct exposure to UV-C lights can cause skin cancer or cataracts in humans. With our service, Solis sends trained technicians to safely disinfect surfaces and the air while your business is unoccupied. Adopting these protocols for your business is a straightforward three-step process.

Evaluate

First, we come in and evaluate. We’ll consider the size of the disinfection area,
number of rooms
and daily traffic.

Quote

We’ll get a quote to you right away with multiple options. We know it’s important to have the information
you need to make
a decision quickly.

Disinfect

We’ll get everything scheduled and our team of technicians will take it from
there so you have
peace of mind.

We’re keeping a close eye on GVU technology as it continues to evolve in response to the COVID-19. Let us know if you’re interested in purchasing equipment for your business. We’ll keep you updated as new technology is developed and we find partners working with disinfection through LED and HVAC systems.

Feel free to reach out with any questions. We’re all in this together. We can operate as an extension to your operations team to help keep essential businesses open during the outbreak, prepare for the long-term impact and know that when you open the doors for business, safety is a priority.
